KARBUNKEL (NEGENOOG) home ICD10: L02.9

Een karbunkel (carbuncle, negenoog), is een acute necrotiserende ontsteking van een aantal haarfollikels dicht bij elkaar. De besmetting van meer dan 1 haarfollikel tegelijk vindt meestal plaats door autoinoculatie, verspreiding vanuit de eerste ontstoken haarfollikel, of subcutaan (abcederende en confluerende infectie met meerdere openingen). Slechte lokale hygiëne kan daarbij een rol spelen. Het werd vroeger meer gezien dan nu. Wordt veroorzaakt door S. aureus, bij uitzondering ook S. epidermis. Zie verder onder abces en onder furunkel.

DD: pyoderma gangrenosum, hidradenitis suppurativa, mycose.

Therapie:
R/ flucloxacilline 3 dd 1000 mg gedurende minimaal 1 week.
