Background
Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic obtained from fermentation by Streptomycin fradiae. Its therapeutic spectrum includes both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is commonly used in vetinary medicine to combat swine dysentery and respiratory infections in poultry. Tylosin tartrate is soluble in water and tylosin base is soluble in petrolatum, butyl acetate, chloroform, and ethyl alcohol.
