BackgroundBioban CS 1246 is a preservative
recommended for metal-working fluids. Patch-testing as a component of a standard
series in 1480 consecutive patients revealed a reactivity of 0.9% (Bruze and
Gruvberger). 8 of the 13 reacting patients were also allergic to formaldehyde.
Bioban CS 1246 decompose to relase formaldehyde. An irritant reactions occurred
in only 1 patient.
