BackgroundBenzocaine is a p-aminobenzoic acid used
as a local anesthetic. It belongs to the ester type anesthetics (procaine, benzocaine,
tetracaine). Benzocaine-sensitive individuals do not react with lidocaine and
other local anesthetics of the amide type.
